Nov 18, 2007 And I thought time flew last time... ok, so it's been a long summer, but I'm checkin in with a fall update to let you know what's going on here in the Shire... fall is definitely here, as the 100+ degree days have gone, replaced by cooler nights, leaves falling all around and stirrings from the NW hemisphere that's starting to send winter swells to my favorite surf breaks. Besides music, bodyboarding is a huge passion of mine and I've been blessed with great surf recently. Got a new board (the Custom X Dubb Static 42- thanks Chitown!) and some stylin Makapuu fins that are superduperdope so I'm stylin' out in the water and on the shore. Just so ya know haha Anyway, going back to the last news update, we left off this summer at the Gwen Stefani show up in Santa Barbara, which was way cool~ got to see my buddy Kris Pooley rock the keys and see Gwen's many costume changes. Good times! I wrote up a piece on Kris that came out recently in Keyboard Magazine and hopefully showed his many good sides. Later that week I hit Wes Styles' studio with my good friend and drummer Ryan Brown to lay down basic tracks for some new Rabbithead songs which have yet to be finished, unfortunately. Hope you will be hearing them someday~ didn't mean to leave them unfinished but my plate got extremely full.... In July, I did a video interview with famed keyboardist John Novello, which you can see online at keyboardmag.tv - click on Artists and look for John's piece. Also got to catch my bro-in-law Brett Scallions with Circus Diablo at the Roxy, which was way cool (also saw Ryan Brown play his last show with the band Owl that night- too bad they're over cause they were really cool!). Had a great birthday July 13th, which was a Friday~ how lucky!~ and continued to watch my sister get ever so large with her bun in the oven. Began working on some top secret projects underground, conjuring demons and working some magical mystery murder music... more on that when you're old enough ;-) Much of July and August was a blur but I do remember a stellar Riders on the Storm gig (that's the new name for the Doors with Brett on vocals) down in Costa Mesa~ they played with Pat Travers and Paul Rodgers from Bad Co/Free, which was amazing! Pat Travers kicks ass- he even did a cover of RamJam's Black Betty and floored the crowd. It was also my first time seeing Brett with the ROTS and he was really terrific- best I had ever seen him, even from all the times when he was with Fuel. Just keeps getting better! Paul Rodgers was great to see as well~ I'm a big fan of his music and he still nails it & is in great shape. Great show overall! Check out the ROTS at ridersonthestorm.com The biggest news of summer happened Sept 7th when my nephew Jagger Song Scallions was born~ I was at the hospital with all the grandparents and heard his first cries (loud, just like the son of 2 singers!). He's an awesome kid and I've been able to see him a lot, as Abby and Brett live very close by now. Abby's healing up well and Jagger's been healthy and well fed. And I don't think I've seen happier grandmas! You can check out pics of the critter at myspace.com/abbygennet though I'm sure he'll have his own website soon enough haha For those that keep asking, I haven't heard much from the Nick Lachey camp. I know he's working on a new record and will probably go out next year. That's still a long ways away so you never do know. What I do know is that in the beginning of next year, RUDY is planning to unite to record our third record! It's been too long since the Sexy album and we need to complete the holy trinity of booty funk. We already have recorded some tracks, which we hope to release before the holidays. Be prepared- they are bluer than Papa Smurf's balls! lol On a sad note, our good friend and promoter Don Cohen passed away recently. He's been a tireless promoter of the South Florida music scene and life would not have been the same without him. He will be sorely missed by hundreds of musicians and fans, not to mention we Rudy men. Long live Don Cohen! Next time you have a party, throw a toast to Don~ he would have wanted it that way :) Visit Rudy at rudymusic.com and check out the new video for the hit song Pooter, along with some special footage shot when we were in the studio. They're both posted on the myspace page. At the end of September I saw another fabulous ROTS show down in Anaheim & my Brett really rocked the house. Around Robbie Krieger, I am officially Robbie #2- he is still killin it on the guitar and you just can't beat those songs! The next night I brought out the HMHH show to rock Club Vodka, an affair that turned deadly when two girls were murdered onstage. Or were they? You never know what is going to happen at the metal show so you might not want to miss the next one.... In early October, my 94 year old Nana came out to visit and meet her first great grandchild, which was awesome. I couldn't be happier that she's still able to come out here and visit us. Thanks for the great genes, Nana! What a great lady. Can't wait to see her again soon. Oct 12 saw Genesis at the Hollywood Bowl where it rained for the first time in like 14 years so it was a delightful but rather moist experience (the Bowl is outdoors, for those who don't know). But not as moist as the following weekend when I disappeared into the outer reaches of the Hawaiian islands to bodyboard with some amazing friends. Though I can't reveal any details, there were some truly incredible experiences, including an adventurous hike many miles up to a pristine waterfall to swim in the fresh water and get back to nature. I will never forget my time there and am still stoked with much aloha! Mahalo to the crew out there.... At the end of the month, I took the HMHH show to Las Vegas, where we played a huge Fetish and Fantasy Ball in front of a crazy crowd of costumed freaks. It was just before Halloween and the spirits of sin were out and about. Crazy times but worth the trip! Kind of like life :) Saw the talented duo Tegan & Sara Oct 29th~ really diggin their new CD "The Con"- pick it up and take a listen if you haven't already. Good stuff! The next night, saw a taping of the Tonight Show with Tom Cruise, Ron Paul and the Sex Pistols! What a great bill- I think RP & The Pistols should go on tour together- I'd buy tickets for sure! If you haven't checked out Ron Paul, you should- he's definitely making waves on the Republican side and has a lot of great views on things. Abolish the IRS? Check! Find out more about Ron Paul at ronpaul2008.com November hit and we did a last minute HMHH show at the Roxy where we played the Bulletboys aftershow party. It was a rockin' good time and the crowd was quite crazy. When they cheered for an encore, I brought out the big guns, namely Metallica's Creeping Death, which I threw down and destroyed like an atomic bomb of pianistic pleasure. Good times! Always. Saw one of my favorite bands Dada on Nov 9th in Hollywood and it was an amazing show- if you're not up on Dada, get with the program! Check em out at dadatheband.com and pick up their CD's. Great guys, always awesome to see them live. Then on the 11th, I rocked out with another fave band: Coheed & Cambria at the Wiltern. My buddy Wes Styles is on tour with them playing keyboards and doing a fantastic job. He's supposed to go to Europe, Japan and Australia with them & I'm wishing him many great adventures! Follow their tour at coheedandcambria.com The following week, saw two very different but also amazing shows. One was Indonesian piano legend Dwiki Dharmawhan who laid it down at the Baked Potato jazz club in Hollywood with an all-star band including Walfredo Reyes Jr on drums (he rocks!). Dwiki is a great person and Indonesia has named him cultural ambassador. His band is called the World Peace Orchestra and he's trying to bring peace through music, a very worthwhile cause. Check him out at dwiki.com The next night, I went to see the Average White Band at the Canyon Club and man were they fantastic! Better than I thought it could be in every way. Don't ever miss the AWB if they come to your town! You won't regret it, nor will your boogieing booty. Their tour seems to be over for the year but next year, don't miss em: averagewhiteband.com Also last week, my sister and I went to a lecture by one of our favorite authors TC Boyle, who was talking about his book 'Tortilla Curtain' and answering some questions from the crowd. If you'd never read TC Boyle, do yourself a huge favor and get into him. One of the best living fiction writers whose books are fantastic voyages for the mind. Check tcboyle.com for more info. Wanted to recommend a book I read recently that really blew my mind~ it's called "God is Not Great- how religion poisons everything" by Christopher Hitchens and it is truly awesome. Hitchens is an editor at Vanity Fair and a fabulous writer. He not only points out all the ways in which organized religion has poisoned society but deconstructs all arguments against blind faith and the blatant mistruths that organized religion holds so dear. Whether you are a devout fundamentalist or an atheist (or anywhere in between) do yourself a favor and read this book! Astounding. Check out Hitchens online at hitchensweb.com Let me leave you with a great quote from one of my favorite comedians and human beings, the late Bill Hicks: "It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money, a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one." -Bill Hicks May the eyes of love linger upon you~ see you soon! ROBBIE June 26, 2007 How time flies! It has been a while since I wrote my last update and I apologize for the delay~ life is grand here in LaLa land, where I sit gazing out upon my orchard, which now contains 12 fruit trees: 2 apple, 2 peach, 1 plum, 2 lemon, 1 orange, 1 grapefruit, 1 pomegranite, 1 apricot and a 4in1 pluot tree! That means 4 kinds of pluots on one tree~ and yes, a pluot is a cross between a plum and an apricot. One of them is called "Flavor Grenade" which sounds yummy~ i'm currently eating the yellow peach harvest (the white peach was amazing too!) and am getting ready for the plums to ripen to deliciousness. In the veggie garden, I have all sorts of tomatoes, peppers, string beans, snap peas, cauliflower, cucumbers, honeydew melons and even blueberries! It is an organic bonanza here at Casa G-Nutz and I'm enjoying my time at home. And now that you've heard the farm report, onward to the musical portion of our show... As you may know, the July dates I was booked to do with Nick Lachey have all been cancelled. Actually, we are still doing an acoustic show in Bentonville, Arkansas in mid-July but I think it's a corporate gig so no tix for the general public. Don't know when there will be other dates so unless things change, this year is light on Lachey here in Robbieland. He's writing and recording a new record but I have no indication if I'll have any involvement on that. And so it goes.... The past few months, I've been utterly consumed with this project I took on for EQ Magazine where I was testing mics and preamps in my home studio and recording a lot of vocals and acoustic guitar. The recordings are all done and the listening part is starting this week, with a great group of people doing the blind shootout and giving feedback. After I write the piece, the audio will go up on the EQ Magazine website for people to do their own listening tests. Will update when that is coming out, probably later in the summer. It has taken a lot of time and effort to do but was very educational for me. And now I have some great equipment in my studio! Here at my house, my studio is ready to record everything except drums~ I'm surrounded by vintage keyboards and a fine Kawai acoustic piano. Look for a lot more music coming soon~ got some new tunes in the pipeline already! And now, a recap since the last news piece: On April 25th I had the pleasure of seeing Ronnie James Dio front Black Sabbath on the Heaven and Hell tour at the Forum in LA. That show kicked major ass! Children of the Sea, Neon Knights, and of course, Heaven and Hell~ amazing stuff. Dio sounds as good as ever and the band was wicked awesome. Good times! The weekend after, I flew out with Nick Lachey to do an acoustic gig at Brett Favre's house in Mississippi~ he's the QB for the Packers and a helluva nice guy. Treated us with some southern hospitality and we had a lot of fun. Even flew there and back on a private Gulfstream jet! Now THAT is the way to travel. Way beyond first class :) Came back to LA in time to see one of my favorite bands Sloan at the Troubadour on May 1st~ their new album "Never Hear the End of It" may be my favorite record of the year~ if you want to hear some exceptional music by a band in it's prime, run don't walk to the nearest record store and pick it up! It just keeps getting better with every listen. I reviewed it in Keyboard Magazine as well~ check it out HERE. Also got to see my brother in law Brett rehearse with the Doors, which was truly thrilling. Though he's not trying to be Jim Morrison, he sounds awesome singing those songs and the band is badass~ Krieger and Manzarek are still on their game and having a lot of fun with it. Phil Chen on bass just takes it over the top~ he played on one of my favorite all time records "Blow by Blow" by Jeff Beck. As I write this, Brett and the band are in Europe touring all over~ check em out. On May 11th I flew out again with Nick to do an acoustic gig for Cumulus Radio, who owns a bunch of radio stations. We shared the stage with some American Idols including Katherine McPhee, who has a great voice and probably the best legs in the business. Wa wa wee wa! Lovely. May 16th brought me to Safari Sams to see the unbelievable Fuxedos, who you must experience live. It is beyond a spectacle and I love the show, not to mention that my buddies Wes Styles and Ryan Brown play in the band! Check em out - watch videos, stare at pics and go see em! And eat jellybeans at Disneyland with Scooby Doo. No, wait- fuck Disneyland! haha On May 22nd I had the huge privilege of seeing Sam Harris and Chris Hedges debate at UCLA- if you are not familiar with these two men, Google em! Sam Harris' book "The End of Faith" is an amazing read whether you are religious or not and I felt he ruled the night at this event. Check out some highlights. At the end of May, I jetted down to Florida for the wedding of my good buddy Matt Kramer and his lovely bride Shana- Matt used to sing for Saigon Kick and we go waaaaaay back~ amazing to see him so happy and in love! He deserves it all. Got to see all my Fla peeps, which is getting to be a rarer and rarer occasion ~ but always a welcome homecoming and I miss em all. That being said, I'm not moving back! lol Check out matt's music. Also exciting, in June I got to test out the new Rhodes electric pianos and WOW are they cool! I own 7 classic Rhodes and have jammed them extensively in Rudy so I'm pretty prepared to test drive the new ones. I really feel they are making the late Harold Rhodes proud with these fine instruments. Look for the review in Keyboard Magazine in a few months. Speaking of the Mag, I have a piece coming up in July's Keyboard on the talented Kern Brantley, a great guy all around. Soon after, look for a piece I wrote on Kris Pooley, who was the MD/keyboard player for Nick Lachey. Saw two shows recently that were a lot of fun~ the band O.A.R. played the Wiltern and it was a cool jammy show, worth seeing even if you don't know the music well (like me) ~ the other show was the John Butler Trio and they were truly phenomenal. Do not miss this band if they come near you! They put on a great and energetic show that had the whole crowd dancing. Check him - Kick ass! And that brings me up to this week~ my Slunty sister (who is 6 months pregnant) is moving out to Los Angeles this week and she and Brett (and my nephew) will be very close to me. I will be Uncle Robbie and look forward to having family around. More soon as she pops.... she's due August 30th! This week is a doozy for sure~ first of all, I've posted some new pieces at the Huffington Post and as always, I'm glad to be a part of the dialog over there. Do check the site out and if you like my pieces, comment and spread em around. On the musical front, tomorrow night I'm going up to Santa Barbara to visit my good buddy Kris Pooley who is playing keys and MDing for Gwen Stefani~ should be a fun show to see and a great hang. Then Thursday I'll be playing a wild comedy & music show in Pasadena called "Hollyweed Live" with my good friend Tere Joyce~ check out myspace.com/robbiegennet for more details on that. And lastly, lest you think I haven't been working on my own music amidst all this, I'm heading in the studio this Friday to start recording the next 3 Rabbithead songs and they are KILLER~ some of the best singles I have written in years, methinks! Titles are: Shoot to Kill, Again and Again & Until You Want Me and you will hear them before the summer is long. I also have a photo shoot coming up July 2 with the amazing CYN and am looking forward to some superb new imagery! Stay tuned on all that and keep having a great summer. And don't forget to pick up the new Sloan CD, as well as Grand National by the John Butler Trio. And if you don't own the Scissor Sisters Ta-Dah by now, there's three CD's that will do you right! I have two quotes to end this rather lengthy missive and they complement each other nicely: As always, doing it amidst all the interruptions :) Hope your Spring has been terrific and that summer brings you much joy and happiness. See you soon~ Robbie April 16, 2007 Feb 26, 2007 Just posted my fourth piece on the Huffington Post~ check it out and pass it on: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robbie-gennet/enemies-and-customers_b_42163.html ROBBIE Feb 18, 2007 Sunday post-surf As I sit here at Casa G-Nutz with salt water still dripping out of my nose and a smile on my face, I can't help but think of the waves my crew and I just caught up in Ventura County. Yesterday, I got 6 of the best barrels I've scored in a long time- offshore winds blowing hollow tubes like spun glass, churning up some amazing waves and giving us all a thrill. Today was not as hollow, but there was some size on the sets and it was fun as hell. And Tuesday, we will be heading to a secret spot to jump on a possible 8-10 foot NW swell that promises to give us a classic session, which we will indeed plunder and enjoy! And that is what we bodyboarders do in the winter time in Cali (and elsewhere around the world). But it is fast approaching spring and even my orchard is starting to quiver. Flowers on the apple tree, buds all over the peach tree, first crop of roses showing red leaves all over. Fresh rain, everything watered and clean including the air. A beautiful time to be here :) Well, the big big BIG news on this end is that my sister Abby is preggers! She and her husband Brett are due to have a baby in the fall and chances are, it will be a cool rock and roll kid with terrific parents and a great CD collection. I'm so excited for them and can't wait to be Uncle Robbie to whatever she pops out of her uterus :) You can check out her page at myspace.com/abbygennet and congratulate her! For those who know my ol' band Rudy, we will be uniting for ultimate funktasticness down in Ft. Lauderdale, FL next Friday, March 2, headlining the Riverwalk Music Festival and shaking much booty. There may also be a March 1 gig~ make sure you check on myspace.com/rudymusic if you are in the vicinity. These shows will be very special and feature Rey, Johnny, Robbie and Howard, the classic Rudy lineup for ultimate groovy yum yums. Bring booty! I've got my latest song online now~ give a listen to "Come Down" at myspace.com/robbiegennet and pass it on. More music coming soon~ I'm building my studio now and hope to have it up and running by mid-March. After that, there will be much candy coming out of Wonka's factory! I think there are oompaloompas in there... ;-) A quick recap of the last month: back in January, I did the NAMM show, which is the biggest music trade show in the USA. A lot of walking, a lot of audio and visual stimulation and a bunch of great people I'm always glad to see. I think this was my 10th or 11th NAMM show. Good times all around. Later in the month, I did a show in Santa Barbara with the VPO's at Elsie's, which was a lot of fun. I like gettin' out of town and gigging~ maybe I'll even see you in your town soon... you never know! The winter has been great for surf and our buddies from No Friends came up from San Diego to film a surf sesh in early February. Check out our first official video "Deep in Ventura" below:
And yes, I am the man known as G-Nutz. What's up now! There is more to come soon so stay tuned.... And the quote for the week is: "The man who succeeds above his fellows is the one who early in life clearly discerns his object, and towards that object habitually directs his powers." -Earl Nightingale And to that I say- Right On! Have a great week~ ROBBIE Jan 13, 2007 Nov 20, 2006 We wound down to Dallas and had a day off to cruise around Deep Ellum before our gig at the Nokia. Saw my friend Amy (hi Amy!) who is the only person I know that would stagedive in a freakin' wheelchair~ you got balls, kiddo! Your new name is "Balls on Wheels" haha ANYhow, we went to a crazy afterparty at the top of the W hotel where half the crowd was in costume (halloween was coming) and our gang drank Grey Goose in the VIP & boogied it on down. All the boys and girls from Dirtie Blonde and Joanna were out with us and the camaraderie was in high gear. So after a full night of hijinks in Dall-ass, we jumped over to Houston for a show at the Verizon. After soundcheck, I went with my old buddy Tom Collins to get some amazing espresso, some great Vietnamese food (yum!), some new CD's (new MyChem, Ringside, Los Amigos Invisibles) and then went and saw the controversial film Death of a President, which depicts a fictitious assassination of our current "leader". It was actually a really cool almost non-partisan film that got our hearts pounding and left quite an impact on us both. I highly recommend it- don't be scared by the controversy. Anyhow, after the show we all went to a pool hall for our own afterparty. Of course, I kicked ass on the pool tables (sorry Lindsay!) and had a lot of fun, even when I was tackled by a mob of celebratory drunkards and pinned to the poolhall floor beneath a half ton of inebriated musicians. Hey, no one said rock and roll doesn't hurt... So after Houston, we go to Phoenix and that's where shit got really crazy, for it was the Halloween show and we were a merry band of rogue pirates backing up our own Capt. Lachey on the good ship "Celebrity Theater" which just happens to be in the round. Yes we dressed up (or down, depending) and drew on tattoos and scars and tied bandanas and all that and rocked that show with Nick in full Pirate regalia~ everyone looked great and really lived up the pirate life that night including the crowd, many of whom had dressed up too. We went to a sick afterparty with Matt Leinart and some of the Arizona Cardinals at some fancy club and let me tell you, it was hot. There may have been more beautiful women at this party than in any other room I've been in on tour. However, beautiful on the outside doesn't usually mean beauty on the inside so there were a lot of empty shells there. But everybody danced & had an awesome time- I think I may have even had a cocktail on this night but it's hard to recall at this point :-) I'll have to check the pictures as they filter in from everyone's cameras! From Phoenix, we took the long haul to Reno, the biggest little city... near Lake Tahoe. We stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort/Casino and it was... a casino. Great buffet, Skiball in the basement and a fairly cool venue. After the show, a group of us went over to one of the clubs inside the casino and ended up sitting in and jamming with the band. I recall singing "Crazy Train", "Rock and Roll All Night", "You Really Got Me" and maybe one more. That put Reno towards the top of the list of great nights we had on this tour, not to mention the fabulous people we met there. Reno, ye shall be remembered fondly! From Reno we went to Bakersfield to play an old venue that reeked of thousands of shows. It was a good night, a little wistful as we knew the tour was soon ending. We had a good hang in the parking lot after the show and mostly stayed out of trouble ;-) That night, we had to drive all the way to Temecula to yet another casino, the Pechanga. And after seeing the hundreds of thousands of Americans pouring their hard earned dough into slots and table games at casinos nationwide, may I say: POWER TO THE INDIANS! They got majorly screwed and it's good to see them getting some payback. Literally! The casino afterparty was off the hook and though I didn't gamble at all I still managed to have a good time- and didn't lose a dime. After Temecula, we headed back north to San Jose where I got to see my sister Sasha who lives over in Berkeley. Always good to see one or both of my sisters! Sasha rocks :-) San Jose was the last date before heading home and that night we rolled out southbound for LA. I made it home by midmorning, saw how much of my garden died (a lot) and how beautiful it was where I live (a lot!) and then (after a quick nap) took off to the east side to VOTE (it was Nov 7th after all!) which I hope you all did too. (On a side note, YAY DEMS! Let's get some accountability in government, shall we?) After voting, off to the Wiltern for one last blast right in our hometown. My Dad and stepmom came out, as did my good buddy and bodyboarding crew member JoMoFro, who has bigger balls than you. Also had the pleasure of hanging with Brady and Alex from Kufala Recordings, who released my RedRoom CD and the Rudy Skydive Sebastian CD and has recently put all my tunes on iTunes. Thank you Kufala- you rock! The Wiltern show itself was a lot of fun- a packed house and a very vocal crowd, especially for LA. Everyone's families came out and since it was our last night with Dirtie Blonde and Joanna, there were many numbers exchanged, hugs given and toasts proposed. After that, two well-earned days off taking care of business at home and getting some sleep in my bed. Very nice- I like! (And yes, I have seen Borat and it was funny as hell!) On the second night home, the band all convened at Club Social in Hollywood to attend Nick and Vanessa's dual birthday party. After accumulating all the appropriate wristbands and hand stamps, we hit the inner sanctum to party. I even had a glass of red wine to celebrate the occasion- so you know it was special :-) Saw our old friend Kevin Antunes, who helped assemble the Nick band in the spring, and he seemed pleased that we had all survived and made it this far. Little did he know, we had two crazy days in Vegas ahead where we would both extend the dual birthday celebration AND celebrate the end of the "What's Left of Me" fall tour. After this weekend, there might well be nothing left of us at all.... After being home for two days, the prospect of Vegas was making me both excited and a little afraid, knowing how hard this party was gonna hit. But I also know that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so what the hell! haha We flew in and limoed over to the Luxor where we'd be playing the next two nights. Show one was a good one and being my usual self, I took many leaps off the risers and just rocked out in general. However, by the end of the night, my right foot felt like it might have been fractured or broken because I couldn't put my weight on it. The next day, my Aunt Hilary and her partner Jan (both of whom I love dearly) took me over to get x-rayed. They found out that I had bruised the whole pad of my foot around the bones but nothing was broken after all. It seems all that jumping around onstage took it's toll. So I decided I would tell everyone that I hurt my foot kicking ass :-) Though I should have stayed off it, there was a show to do that night and the widely promoted VIP afterparty at the Pure nightclub at Caesar's Palace. I was NOT about to miss that! So I was a little more subdued during the show and just kicked normal ass- just not the extra ass I had been kicking lately. Highlight was when the Crown Royal ladies jumped off the riser and tried to tackle Nick. Sweet! Chaos. Afterwards I went to the apt of my good buddy Alan Vine and met his son for the first time. His son's name is Hollywood N. Vine and he's a cool cool kid~ he'll either grow up to be a rock star or a porn star or both- just like his dad. After that, I headed over to Pure and upon showing the appropriate credentials I was granted entry amidst the huge crush of people attempting to get in. There must have been like 6 guys with lists and a couple hundred people crowded around the entrance. I was glad to get in and soon located some of my band members. After being accosted by a friendly group of ladies who had seen the show that night, I was rescued by the lovely Dame Dia who led me to the VIP area, a raised dais in front of a packed dance floor with hundreds of groovers grinding. Or were they grinders grooving? Either way, the gang all arrived and everyone was having an amazing time. I even got down and boogied- I know, how rare ;-) At some point, the entire Pussycat Dolls Burlesque troop came out with a cake for Nick, much to his pleasant surprise. If you check out the clip that appeared on Extra later (check nickfanatic.com to download) you'll see the cake come out and yours truly, Gnutz, lounging on the sofa behind. Didn't even realize it was being filmed! But a terrific event all around, thanks to our gracious hosts and all our friends who came to party. I didn't sleep that night and we caught an early flight back to Burbank. I was home and napping by early afternoon, with dreams of Vegas still swirling in my head... Two days later I had the pleasure of seeing my sister's band Slunt open for Paul Stanley at the ol' House of Blues on Sunset and they kicked ass! The crowd loved Slunt and showed their appreciation by getting their boobs signed. I saw a lot of people I knew and partied with my sis Abby, her hubby Brett and the other Sluntskateers back in the dressing room. We watched the Paul show from the balcony and he was amazing. The highlights for me were "I Still Love You" and a smoking "I Want You" that kicked major ass! Where we watched the show, we were sitting 5 feet from Gene Simmons and Bruce Kulick and it was neat seeing them air drum along to songs they both knew all too well. Paul's band was really tight and delivered the songs with pride and passion. Good times! Since then, I have taken the last few days to recuperate at home, get some good sleep, play piano again (finally!) and prepare for Thanksgiving, which I will spend down in Mexico with my family, a fat moist turkey and my bodyboard & fins cause there is a late season South swell heading in to meet me and it's about time to hit it!After that, I leave back on tour with Nick in early December and wind our way east, stopping at the amazing Madison Square Garden in NYC on Dec 15th! I'll finish with a trip to Florida to see my family and play a big solo show on a 7ft grand piano on Dec 23 (see myspace.com/robbiegennet for details). I'll be back to LA after Xmas and then... 2007. If even half my dreams come true, 2007 is going to be simply amazing.... The most appropriate quote for today: "The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do." –Walter Bagehot. And to those who would dare say it to us, to them I say... do the letters F.O. mean anything to you? :-) Off to do it~ and do it well! ROBBIE Oct 24, 2006 After Cleveland, we headed to a cold and rainy Philly for a fun show at the classic Tower Theater (where Bowie Live was recorded). After that, chilly Boston for a show at the old Orpheum, which has seen many amazing bands over the years. I love the architecture of these theaters and I always check out the details when I'm there. After Boston, it was time for 2 days in Atlantic City, which was really cool~ got to see the ocean (tho not surf in it), do the boardwalk, eat at White House subs and basically chill out~ I don't gamble or drink so the casino didn't hold my interest too much. After AC, we headed to DC- Washington that is. My old pal Tracy came to the show and gave me a long overdue haircut~ thank you girl! She's also a huge Rudy fan and has been spreading the love nationwide. Hence her friend serenading me with The Underpants Song in Chicago haha After DC, it was off to NYC for 5 performances in 3 days~ a heavy schedule, but I still found time to eat great bagels (Pick-a-bagel at 23rd & 3rd ROCKS!) and see friends and family. The two shows at the Nokia in Times Square were outta hand and the energy was high for both. We did the Letterman show, a first for me~ it was quite the experience being there, seeing Paul to my right and Dave to my left. Will Lee was a cool mofo~ great bass player too! John Stewart was on the show, but we didn't get to meet him~ he was late in the rain, no time to hang :-( However, the next day we did The View and I had the pleasure of meeting Arianna Huffington, who I really admire. I am submitting some things for her blog (The Huffington Post) and hope it gets in there! She's really nice and doing great things for our democracy~ thumbs up! After the second Nokia show, we all went to a club for the Maxim Magazine party celebrating Vanessa Minnillo's cover shoot. It was loaded with the terminally hip and a lot of hot models, plus a bangin mashup club mix that had even me dancin amidst the tight crowd. And if you've seen me dance, you'll know that I don't hold back haha Our last night in NYC we played a private radio show at the China Club and followed it with another red carpet club appearance for Nick's YFly website launch party. The VIP area was cool until people started smoking cigs, after which I had to get the hell out of there. Screw those assholes who want to smoke in non-smoking areas~ that's all I have to say on that! From NYC we headed south to Greensboro NC where my dad came out to the show~ it was so great seeing him there and Nick even shouted him out from the stage! He had a fun night and so did I~ hell, we all did! Partied like rockstars. After Greensboro, we headed to Charlotte for a raucous show and then on to warm Tampa, where we all had a little time off by the cool pool at the Hard Rock Casino. And yes, for those who asked, I wore the speedo~ had to get my swim on and baggy shorts wouldn't do! Some good friends of mine headed up to Tampa for the show~ since we didn't make it to South Florida, Tampa and Orlando were the closest cities to visit. The Tampa show was great and we were all refreshed from the days off in the warm sunshine. After 12 performances in 11 days, we were long overdue for some R&R! Orlando was terrific too~ my Mom and Step-dad came up, as did my best friend (and drummer of Rudy) Howard and my buddy Corey who was in a motorcycle wreck last year. (A reminder~ wear a helmet, people!) The crowds have been really vocal and energetic but Orlando was extra-loud and outta control! Not that I'm complaining... But not to be outdone, Atlanta the next night was even more outtahand and was one of the best shows so far. Packed to the rafters and louder than ever, the crowd gave us a lot of energy to feed on and we gave it right back! Afterwards, the lobby of our hotel turned into a big party and much mayhem and mirth ensued. I even had a little cocktail~ i think it was my first of the whole tour! haha Those who know me know I'm not one for the alcohol. From Atlanta we headed to Nashville for a show at the classic Ryman Auditorium, which is steeped in country music history. Playing there was special and we gave it our all as usual for another fantastic crowd. Afterwards we headed to our drummer Derek's farm in rural Tennessee for our day off~ it was lovely and we felt right at home thanks to Derek and his wife's hospitality. We even lit a big bonfire by the lake which brought out the inner pyro in all of us (especially Pathik!). On a side note, I went to Walmart to get a frisbee and was told "Frisbee is a summer sport" and that they don't carry them. Can you believe that? Denied! So I gotta get back to Cali so I can enjoy summer all year long and buy a freakin frisbee. No worries~ we're on the way! After Tennessee, we headed to lovely Louisville, KY and then crazy Columbus, Ohio for a makeup show~ getting colder, almost froze my buttocks off up there! And now as we pull in to Kansas City, we prepare to rock again~ only a dozen shows left on this leg so it's time to rock em down one at a time. I'll write again when I can~ for now, it's another hotel, a quick shower, find the Starbucks and some food and get to the gig. No complaints~ we're having a great time and people are treating us super. Check out pics vids and more at www.nickfanatic.com and download our performances on Letterman and The View either there or at www.nick-lachey.net More soon as we roll on~ until then, the quote of the week: “One's own self conquered is better than all other people conquered; not even a god could change into defeat the victory of a man who has vanquished himself.” -Buddha. One of my favorites! Enjoy~ ROBBIE, conquered in Kansas October 1, 2006 Before that, we played Detroit Rock City at the elegant Opera House. This beautiful venue gave the evening a healthy dose of class and the crowd was really enthused. It's always great to play to an appreciative audience and Detroit always gives their all. Nick is a great entertainer and singer and it's no small surprise that so many people adore him and come to see him. He's a really nice guy, very down to earth and full of gratitude for where he's at. On a side note, some friends in Detroit took me out Sunday morning to a cider mill (Franklin's) where we got fresh apple cider and hot donuts to dip into it. Yum! They were surprised I had never been to one before but between South Florida and LA, the orchards are few and far between. (That being said, I'm growing 2 different kinds of apples in my small but tasty orchard at home!) Though it was raining and I didn't have all the appropriate weather gear, we had a great time. I always love to do things indigenous to where I visit and the cider mill was a real treat. I got a half gallon of cider and a basket of apples. (Where's Matt Kramer when I need him? lol) Before Detroit we played the gargantuan Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. That was a cool gig, though the smoking in the casinos kept me from wandering too far. I did manage to wander to a game room to rustle up some Ski Ball. It's my arcade game of choice and I rack up some serious tickets while having a ball (pun intended). In fact, one day I plan to have a Ski Ball lane installed in my house. One day.... :-) The day before Connecticut, we played the lovely Landmark Theater in Syracuse, NY. I love those early 20th century theaters, all ornate and gilded with cool alcoves, frescoes and lighting. There's something timeless about them and I really enjoy the architecture. The fans were camped out by the buses and waiting for hours to see Nick. He is really good about signing autographs and reaching out to his fans, and they showed up in full force tonight. Our crowds are probably 90% female, but I'm in no way complaining! And there are a lot of ladies in their 20's and 30's and beyond so it's a nice mix, not all teenyboppers. Before Syracuse was our first night of the tour in Albany. We played The Palace, another old theater with lots of character and history. Though it was the first show of the tour, we had rehearsed for weeks before back in LA and then done 2 days of production rehearsals at the Palace itself, running the show sometimes 3 times a day to practice stage moves, lighting and the fine details. In fact, the day of show we came in early and played the whole set at 11am! By the time we played it through again that night, we pretty much had our act together and felt really comfortable. The other guys in the band are super talented and set a high standard for performing; I like that, and do my best to rise to the occasion and bring the rock. Oh yea, can't forget Valdosta, where we played a little warmup gig at a theme park before the production rehearsals. It was hot Georgia weather and we sweated our way through the set. Luckily, the crowd sweated right along with us and we all had a great time. Took a long time to drive on the bus from Valdosta, GA to Albany, NY but we made it! The bus is very comfy and we're not too crowded, which makes for easier traveling. I sleep well on the bus, though a nice hotel room is a pleasant oasis from the rigors of the road. I love watching the countryside go by and seeing the leaves start to change this time of year. I do miss my garden back in Cali and hope there will be stuff to harvest when I get back in November. But for now, I'm rolling across the USA and taking it all in. So that is a fairly thorough report from the road~ I'll do my best to keep this blog going for your vicarious pleasures (I assume if you've read this far, you're interested). Now let me turn to the world of Rabbithead for a moment: The Viper Room show was awesome and the Viper Room was really good to us. We headlined on a Saturday night and Wes, Eli, Taki and I laid out the Rabbithead rock. There are pictures up on the IMAGES page so check em out if you haven't already. Between then and the start of Nick's fall tour, Eli, Wes and I laid down tracks for 3 new Rabbithead recordings and I can't wait for you to hear them~ Wes is a great producer, musician and songwriter and we're making some great music together. When they're ready, I'll be sure to let you know... check out www.myspace.com/rabbithead and link up! Well, I am off to bed~ got a big show here in Nick's hometown tomorrow and then it's off to places like Chicago, Milwauke, Minneapolis and beyond. Hope your week is fantastic~ quote of the day is: "Anyone who dares to waste one hour of life has not yet discovered the value of life." - Charles Darwin Live it, love it- be it! ROBBIE August
1, 2006 See you soon! July 8, 2006 From NYC I flew to Florida for some personal time- see the doc, dentist, all that. Got to visit my Aunt Irene as well as my 92 year old Nana, who is in amazing shape- got some good genes! Thank you Nana :-) Also worked with the amazing Matt Kramer and recorded some more vocals for the next songs off my long-in-progress "Swimming in the Fire" double album. Hopefully the next few songs will be out soon! Look for "Wrong Way" and "Crayon" in the near future. Got to see a lot of my peeps in SoFla and spend some time with my parents too. All in all, a good Florida trip, though no Rudy gigs this time. Flew from Florida straight to Toronto to do the Much Music Video Awards- all I can say is WOW! What an amazing time in an amazing city. Click HERE and download video of the performance (enter the three letter code and click DOWNLOAD- it's easy!) Those Canadians know how to party right and we were treated so very well. Thank you to all of them! Went to some great afterparties (Nelly Furtado's was way cool) and partied way too hard. All in a night's work, right? After Toronto, we flew home to LA where I went into the studio to see my sister's band Slunt recording their new record, which sounds KILLER! I played Hammond organ on a bunch of tracks, plus Minimoog on the song "Dirty Blonde" and- of course- cowbell on the song "Burned" (one of two songs I wrote for the record- the other is "Give You Love" which I did a few small bass overdubs on). The band sounds amazing and I love all their new stuff, especially a song called "Lost Girl" which just keeps rolling through my head. Good times! Can't wait to hear the finished album. A few days later, we flew to Sacramento for another big radio show called Endfest, which was a blast! Good to see our friends Aly & AJ again as well as the hard rockin boys in Ashley Parker Angel's band- seriously great music gents! See Nick concert pics: ONE TWO THREE. After Sacramento we flew to Seattle for a lovely day off~ had a great meal and saw the sun set from the top of the Space Needle, which was truly amazing. You could see Mt. Ranier because the day was so clear. I also won some fabulous prizes playing Skiball- yes, I am the Skiball champ! :-) In Seattle, we played the BFD which was headlined by Pink~ I really love and highly respect her "Dear Mr. President" song and dug the whole set~ she's got great attitude. We also got to see Ashley Parker Angel and Aly&AJ again and they both kicked major ass. For those who dismiss "pop" acts, you are probably full of shit! Ok, definitely :-) From Seattle, I flew to Cabo San Lucas to surprise my Uncle Sy and his family for his 80th birthday celebration. Though it was a short trip, we had an absolutely amazing time. Great to catch up with my cousins Dan, Meg & Rosa Baum- Dan and Meg are writers and you can check them out HERE. Dan has traveled the world as a writer and has always been an inspiration to me- you should read his articles in the New Yorker and Rolling Stone and check out his books as well. Cabo is as beautiful as ever and the ocean was delicious to swim in. From Cabo, flew to Atlanta for a special winners-only radio show in an intimate club. The afterparty was a riot and I wound up onstage singing Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" with the house band, representing for all the old school rock and rollers out there! We would up at another club for the whole VIP treatment and it was a looooooooooong night for those of us who don't drink (though I did have a tequila shot after our show, a rare happening that won't be repeated anytime soon). The next day, we flew our tired selves to Kansas City and that night, some of us band guys went with Nick to a cool party in the suburbs, followed by a wild trip to a nighclub that bordered on mayhem. It got too loud, smoky and fulla hoochies so I hightailed it back to the hotel to chill before things got out of hand. Had to rest up to play the gigantic Red White & Boom show for Mix 93.3 the next day! The gig went off and we had one of the best shows on this leg of the tour. What a great crowd and all the other acts were super. Finally got to meet Pink (see PIC) and hang more with Aly & AJ (see PIC) and their mom Carrie, who is as terrific as her daughters. Also the Ashley Parker Angel guys (no PIC to see) put on a slamming show- kudos to them for rockin in the blazing sun! The next morning we flew early to NYC and that night we taped a performance for the Macy's July 4th show on NBC (download VIDEO). Then eeeeeearly the next morning, we were up and out to play the Today show on NBC live in Rockefeller Plaza (download VIDEO: SONG 1, SONG 2, SONG 3) narrowly escaping the rain that dogged us through our NYC visit. We were tired and a little burnt but somehow managed to pull it off- gotta be pro to do the pro gigs, right? That very afternoon, we flew home and ended this leg of the tour exhausted but smiling. And here I sit in my slightly disorganized but cozy house writing an update to ya! The garden is looking great here- planted sweet corn, zucchini, eggplant, string beans, snap peas, all sorts of lettuce, 3 kinds of tomatoes, 4 kinds of peppers, carrots, watermelon, strawberries and a few onions! Some herbs too, as well as a blueberry bush- yum! My fruit trees are doing well~ got a load of plums ripening, and some apples, oranges & lemons, though no peaches & grapefruits- all good stuff! What doesn't grow this year will come in next season. Also my roses are kicking ass and I have bunches of grapes on my vines~ this farming business is awesome! I have the perfect space to do it. So that's the scoop, and a long scoop it is! We are off for the month of July, so I will be making music, bodyboarding, eating fresh organic veggies and taking moonlight hikes. Wanna join me? ;-) Speaking of joining, if you are a Myspacer, come add me as a friend & see my new pics at myspace.com/robbiegennet. The quote for the day/month/week: "Wherever you go, go with all your heart." - Confucius Love to you~ with all my heart. May 31, 2006 The big news today is NEW RABBITHEAD IS NOW ONLINE! Check it out at myspace.com/rabbithead and add Rabbithead as your friend. I'm excited to finally release the rock so Spread the Head and crank it up! There are some new pics there too from a shoot at the Erotic Gallery :-) Also, the Best of the Cassettes Vol. 1 is now up on iTunes! Check it out HERE and download some RG tunes~ some are online for the first time ever. More news coming soon, so stay tuned! For the quote of the day, I'll give you the wisdom that Polonius imparts to Laertes: "To thine own self be true." True dat! Rock on~ May 1 , 2006 I also have a lot of my own music heading your way on iTunes, including “Best of the Cassettes Vol. 1” and “Shadowboy” to be followed by brand new Rabbithead and more tracks from “Swimming in the Fire.” Look for it all in the coming weeks and months and stay tuned.... Hoping to see you all out there on the road~ quote of the day is: "We write our own destiny. We become what we do." - Madame Chiang Kai-Shek Sounds like a plan~ see you soon! ROBBIE April 10, 2006 I’ve been delayed a bit with the new Rabbithead songs but they are coming soon and they kick ass! I’ll post them on the Rabbithead Myspace page and iTunes when they are ready for mass consumption. Stay tuned and go listen to the old Rabbithead stuff- hell, buy a CD and tee shirt and support the band! You can do that on my newly expanded MUSIC page, not to mention buy copies of all my CD’s and cassettes. You may know I write for Keyboard Magazine and may have seen some of my pieces over the years. I just had a nice article on the band Eisley in the March issue and in the upcoming May issue, I wrote the cover story on the band Train. Also, there’ll be a Steve Winwood article coming soon, which was great to write. I got to talk to Steve on the phone all about Traffic, one of my favorite bands. So get your hands on an issue of Keyboard and check out what’s going on! Also look for my name in the CD reviews every so often. On a personal note, I’d like to thank Mother Ocean for throwing me and my buddy Lewdog some bitchin’ waves up in Ventura County yesterday. We even saw a big ol’ seal barking in the lineup, though he didn’t get in the way too much. Good times- can’t wait to hit Costa Rica, Cabo and beyond this year! Shoutouts to NoFriends and all the bodyboarders who fly high and go big. More news coming soon~ potentially big news, so keep your eyeballs peeled! Quote of the day: “I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -Bill Cosby On that note, please yourself! Please! Much love to you~ ROBBIE March 10, 2006 Jan

On a happier note, I will be performing with a new lineup of Rabbithead at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA this January~ two rock-filled days (Jan 19 and 21) at 5:30pm at the IK Multimedia booth. My good friend (and talented artist/producer) Wes Styles is gonna be playing guitar, while drummer extraordinaire Eli Hludzik and bassist Taki Moto will provide the muscle so we can rock out. I will be playing piano and guitar and singin' some rock and roll so if you're NAMM-bound, look out! I don't know yet if there will be any Rabbithead shows outside of NAMM, but I would love to do a full set club show sometime soon so let's see what happens. More details as I know em~ in the mean time, I am going to eat a big pot pie that is cooking in my oven and then I am going to attempt to finish all or most of the unfinished songs I've left half-cooked this year. It is my tradition to do so, so I'll do that voodoo that I do so well and try to 'git er done' as they say. It's a big crop this year so tonite could be a long one... Quote of the day: "We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves." -Bill Hicks (R.I.P.) Sleep tight, kiddies~ ROBBIE Dec 3, 2005 Nov 6, 2005 On another note, last weekend I played a benefit gig for the Special Olympics down in Fullerton at CalState. One of the stranger gigs I've done, I was enthused to see the camraderie and good sportsmanship displayed by the athletes on the field. Not to mention all the supporters and family members there to cheer them on. And to the kid who played air guitar to "Back in Black" after my show: you rocked. There is more new music on the horizon which I'll fill you in on as soon as I can~ I think you'll be excited when the cat is out of the bag :-) Quote of the day: "The secret is this: strength lies solely in tenacity." - Louis Pasteur Keep up the good work! And don't forget to floss.... ROBBIE Oct 24, 2005 So I left Times Square Sunday afternoon and took the train out to Newark Airport and got stuck on their broken down airport tram, missing my flight! So I went back to the city, hung with my bro-in-law and stayed an extra night, which worked out well- even got to eat at one of my fave places that I had missed (Che Brigitte and their magnificent Beef Stew Sandwich- yum!). All in all, a great time! Thanks to my buddy Mitchell for letting me stay at his place and to Andrew for filming my show Friday. I hope to put some video up on my site soon, so be on the lookout. Next up is finishing my home studio in my new house- just moved in last week and am still in boxes! It's a great place and I look forward to giving it the Robbie touch (which means keyboards all over the place lol). It's an amazing spot up in the mountains- I have a great little garden (currently sporting two of the biggest zucchinis I have ever seen!) and some sweet fruit trees too. I'm also 15 minutes from the beach, which makes for much easier bodyboarding excursions! Good times and fresh air- more on the place as I settle in... As you may have seen, the
next big show is Nov 23 with Rudy down in Florida and it's gonna be a
fantabulous night! More on that on the SHOWS
page and at www.rudymusic.com so
check it out! Also, a belated thanks to Corey and Lewis for helping me
move- it was a big job for big men, and they stepped up to the challenge.
The timing was good as we all got to go up to the Ventura Theater and
see our fave band Coheed and Cambria rock it out last week! Good times
for sure. Don't worry- be happy! And
as always, rock on~ Oct. 11, 2005 Thanks to all my friends who
came out to the solo shows at Cat Club and Fais DoDo. You got to hear
some new songs premiered, though I am saving the newest one for NYC! I
hope to record the new songs soon, though I'm still in the process of
mixing the next batch of songs from Swimming in the Fire. Can't have too
many albums going at once! Also can't stop writing songs, so I keep on
keepin' on. Come to the Bitter End and hear some new and old~ see you
in NYC! Sep 27 , 2005 So if you haven't heard, I have some shows coming up~ it's been a while since the last time I played- I swear I had no idea it had been so long! I'll be premiering some new tunes that I'm really excited about so come on down if you can~ more info on the SHOWS page. Don't know when all these new songs will be recorded but I hope you hear them someday soon! Considering my somewhat prodigious
songwriting habits, the quote of the day shall be the following: Piddlin' away~ ROBBIE Sep 20 , 2005 Keep in touch~ see you soon! Robbie Aug 23, 2005 Hear "The
Middle " now: Aug 22, 2005 Aug 15, 2005 Hear "Going
Home" now: Aug 5, 2005 In other news, I have recently mixed and mastered 4 songs from my long-awaited studio record "Swimming in the Fire" which will be up on iTunes soon- check back and I'll let you know when it all goes down. I'm really excited for people to hear this record, though it is a huge undertaking to do on my own. It will be done though- fear not! On the Slunt side, check out my sister rockin up and down the East Coast this month- their schedule is up at www.slunt.net so go support when they come near you! Tell Abby her bro sent ya and prepare to ROCK! That's it for now~ more soon. And for a far-out (for me) quote of the day: "If you bring forth the genius within you, it will free you. If you do not bring forth the genius within you, it will destroy you." - Jesus And in the words of Robbie G, bring it out and bring it on! Have a great week~ Robbie G July 11, 2005 In the meantime, I'm getting ready
to celebrate my birthday this week (Wed the 13th) by bodyboarding a nice
juicy SW swell this weekend! Very excited, and can't wait to do it down
in Cabo too
with the NoFriends
crew. Big ups to you wherever you are and, in the words of Ali G, "keep
it real"! July 3, 2005 July 1, 2005 Up next is Cabo Freak Fest, where M.C. G-Nutz will make an appearance and throw it down for NoFriends and all those crazy bodyboarders~ spongers rule! Just created a G-Nutz page on Myspace, so go check out some music and sign up: http://www.myspace.com/gnutzlovesbutts. And if you happen to make it to Cabo, get your butt ready for some hot funk action! Quote for the week: "There's a time to be mellow and get focused, and then there's a time to rage." - Mike Stewart Rage on, party people! May 14, 2005 April 29, 2005 April 22, 2005 Robbie April 8, 2005 In Rudy news, there will finally be some relief to your long booty drought~ May 11th and possibly the 15th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Rudy will reunite and get extremely musically lubricated. We'll apply the lotion to the motion and get crazy, so you might wanna tell yo mama to be there! More details coming soon.... Oh, and last but not least, MC G-Nutz will make his second appearance at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cabo San Lucas, Baja Mexico @ Cabo Freakfest, sponsored by NoFriends. The date will be late July/Early August- more details as it gets closer. Also, I've confirmed The Big Trip for June~ I'm going on a bodyboarding expedition to Bali and Sumbawa in Indonesia with my good buddies, and it's gonna be awesome :-) Stay tuned... and go check out some bodyboarding stuff at www.ebodyboarding.com and say hello to Jay and Vicki! So that's the latest~ life is a whirlwind, what can I say? Quote of the day: "Go big or go home." Live it, baby! ROBBIE G March 27 , 2005 I'm off to work on many things~ be well, take care, rock on~ ROBBIE March 17 , 2005 Keep on rockin' people~ see you soon! March 14 , 2005 Also, just found out I had some music on the Real World Philadelphia, including Rudy's "Assteroids," plus some of my instrumental tracks. Since the season is already passed, listen for it in reruns... Quote of the day: "Accept the unacceptable. Whatever happens, embrace it." - Jim Morrison Hope you're having a splendid day~ hasta luego! March 5 , 2005 Been writing a lot of songs~ here it is March, and I have a record's worth of new tunes that I'm really excited about. I'm always most excited about my newest songs, as they are fresh to me. No plans on recording them in the studio until I'm done with my big double album, but I'm hoping to do a record release party for my live album down in Florida and will most likely debut a bunch of tunes. More word on that as it happens... On the Heavy Metal Happy Hour front, I am working on my top secret SuperMetalRhodes to launch soon~ superdude Matt Allen has helped get it together with piano technician Ron Dasaro, and Jim Bellamy from Studio Electronics is helping get "the sound" together with some extra superduper pedals and my Marshall stack. When this hits, it's gonna be like a bomb baby! Pictures coming soon... metal coming sooner!! Locally, I just did some work with a neo-soul singer named Bintu~ I played on his CD, and we were working on a cool new track for a compilation he's gonna be on soon. Check him out at http://www.bintumusic.com. I played on the songs "Freedom" and "The Stain". I always leave you with a quote, so today's is: "Courage is the knowledge of what is not to be feared." - Pericles Don't fear the reaper, baby! Be strong and ROCK
ON~! Feb 21, 2005 Sad to hear about the self-inflicted death of Hunter S. Thompson, but he went out on his own terms, which was very much in character. A quote from Mr. Thompson: "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone," he once said, "but they've always worked for me." Check out his books and writings if you haven't and enlighten yourself in a radical way. Stay insane~ and as always, keep rockin! Feb 16, 2005 |
